Competitions in the practical athletic all-around “Relay of Heroes” were held in St. Petersburg. No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War
On August 16, the first Relay of Heroes competition took place at Petrovsky Stadium in St. Petersburg. “No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The organizers of these competitions were the Committee on Legality, Law and Order and Security together with the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, the Regional Sports and Sports Public Organization Federation of Practical Athletic All-Around, the North-Western District of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, St. Petersburg State Agrarian University Directorate for Sports Facilities Management, St. Petersburg GBU Center for Adaptive Sports St. Petersburg”, the Leningrad Regional Fire and Rescue Service, DOSAAF of Russia of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
The competitions were held according to the rules of the type of competitive activity “practical athletic all−around” – the performance of time, accuracy and sequence of specially designed sets of exercises during the passage of a set distance.
Practical athletic all–around is a new type of competitive activity based on the innovative author’s melee technique, the Golden Triangle System (hereinafter referred to as the NWT), developed by Honored Coach of Russia, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Master of Martial Arts of the Russian Union of Martial Arts, President of the European Association of Traditional Burmese Chairman of the Board of the International Association of Security Experts “G3” — Alexander Gennadyevich Shlychkov.
NWT is a platform that combines various types of competitive activities and sports with a military-applied focus, including traditional martial arts, martial arts and melee tactics, work with all types of small arms and cold weapons, as well as tactical medicine.
In order to develop practical athletic all-around on the territory of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Public Organization “Federation of Practical Athletic All-Around of Russia” was established and operates in 2023. In St. Petersburg, in order to develop practical athletic all-around, the Regional Physical Culture and Sports Public Organization Federation of Practical Athletic All-Around was registered in 2024.
The competition program included exercises: putting on a bulletproof vest, overcoming obstacles, throwing a small infantry shovel, moving (turning) tires in various ways, carrying cargo, exercising with a water-powered fire barrel, cycling on a water body (for participants with disabilities), as well as shooting at turning targets using TOKIS weapons (tactical and firing system for simulated shooting). The weapons and targets of the Relay stage, which involves shooting at rotating targets, were provided by Tactical Shooting Simulators LLC (director ‒ Churkin M.D.).
Representatives of the executive state authorities of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, territorial divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, including the Department of Transport in the Northwestern Federal District, the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Prosecutor’s Office of Russia, Rosgvardiya, the Ministry of Defense of Russia, state government institutions of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, public organizations (institutions) and veterans took part in the Relay A special military operation, which totaled more than 200 people.
The relay was opened by Igor Potapenko, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, and Archimandrite Alexy, a clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church, and Andrei Gorshechnikov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, welcomed the participants.
According to the results of the Relay, the prizes were distributed among the teams of the Rosgvardiya (3rd place), the executive authorities of the Leningrad region (2nd place) and the patriotic organization of instructors (1st place).
The organizers of the Relay Race established additional prize nominations among the teams attended by participants of the SVO – “VIFK 2” (veterans of the SVO undergoing adaptation at the Military Institute of Physical Culture and representatives of the Committee for Territorial Development of St. Petersburg), “LIMAN” (veterans of the SVO and the administration of the Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg) and “SVOI” (veterans of the SVO and instructors of the Adaptive Sports Center of St. Petersburg).
The participants noted that the competition was not only a test, but also an important reminder of the feat of the ancestors. In addition, the Relay participants expressed their wish to hold this event annually.
Taking into account the positive feedback about the competitions, the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Public Organization “Federation of Practical Athletic All-around of Russia” together with the Regional Physical Culture and Sports Public Organization “Federation of Practical Athletic All-Around” will continue to take an active part in organizing and holding the Relay Race, which the executive authorities of St. Petersburg plan to make an annual.
