At the 13th ‘Turkiye Open’ international ranking tournament in taekwondo and para-taekwondo, taking place from 24 to 31 March 2026 in Antalya (Turkey), Aliaskhab Ramazanov of Russia, representing the Voronezh Region and the Republic of Dagestan, won the gold medal in the WTF-PODA discipline (weight category over 80 kg). The athlete competed under the national flag of the Russian Federation, and his victory was marked by the playing of the national anthem.
In a closely contested competition featuring 12 athletes, Aliaskhab demonstrated the highest level of skill. In the semi-final, he confidently defeated his compatriot Bilal Yahyaev, repeating his success from last year’s Russian Championship. In the final bout, the Russian faced Iraq’s Shad Saber Bapir Khoshnav and emerged victorious, winning a well-deserved gold medal. Joining Ramazanov on the podium were Shad Saber Bapir Khoshnav (silver), Bilal Yahyaev and Asadbek Toshteyrov from Uzbekistan, who took bronze.
This tournament was an important stage in Aliaskhab’s preparations for the upcoming European Championships in Munich. Ahead of the European Championships, the athlete will take part in training camps in Sochi and Moscow.
We would like to remind you that at the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris, Aliaskhab Ramazanov won a silver medal in taekwondo (WTF-POD) in the over 80 kg weight category. Following his performance at those Games, he was awarded the Order ‘For Merit to the Fatherland’, 1st class. He was also awarded the honorary sporting title of ‘Honoured Master of Sport of Russia’.
We congratulate Aliaskhab Ramazanov and his coaches, the distinguished Russian coaches Alexander Shlychkov and Ruslan Biyarslanov, on their brilliant victory at the international competition in Turkey, and wish them every success in their future sporting endeavours!
